Maine attempts to woo Bombardier

Maine’s governor is reportedly trying to convince Bombardier to expand its operations to his state. Governor Paul LePage’s economic team met with Bombardier officials in May, touting the state’s aerospace supply chain, composites cluster, skilled workforce and assets at the former Brunswick Naval Air Base.

The meeting took place five months after the administration and the agency redeveloping the naval air base lost a bidding war with Wisconsin to attract Kestrel Aeroworks to set up a factory in the state, which would have provided vital manufacturing jobs.

The former naval base was decommissioned last year, but offers potential tenants 300,000 square feet of hangar space and 8,000-foot runways.
