Air Transat announced the deployment of two special flights over the next few days to return Canadians stranded in El Salvador and Guatemala back home. These flights, operated in collaboration with the Government of Canada, are in addition to those already planned by the airline.
“To date, our repatriation flights have brought approximately 46,000 customers back home, and this number will continue to rise in the coming days,” said Jean-Marc Eustache, president and chief executive officer of Transat. “From this time forward, all our efforts will be dedicated to achieving a single goal: to safely repatriate as many Canadians as possible.”
There will be a flight from San Salvador to Montreal on Friday, March 27, aboard a Boeing 737-800.
There will be a flight from Guatemala City to Montreal on Friday, March 27, aboard an Airbus A321-200.

No answer and dont know the cost if there are seats available, when is the next flight
I CALLED THE GOV. FOR A CLIENT OF MINE they tell me to contact Transat for a seat ….but I did and Transat told me to contact the gov. as usual information is not very well provided so now my client is still not on a seat from Haiti …unbelievable!

Let me introduce myself. My name is George Xiros of 376 Washington Street, New Glasgow, NS, Canada. I am currently a student at NSCC Pictou Campus enrolled in the Business Administration, Management Concentration Program. On March 12, 2020 I took a trip to Guatamala to attend a dance fitness training program and was scheduled to return on March 17, 2020. All was well. I kept checking my flight status throughout the weekend even up till Monday morning. At 10am, Monday, March 16, 2020. The government of Guatemala announced that flight restrictions entering the country, due to the threat of the corona virus, will be implemented as of 12 midnight, March 17, 2020 till April 1, 2020. Soon as I heard I rushed to the airline agency at the airport to find out more information. The only thing the could do is reschedule my flight to April 1, 2020. I went to other airlines, all booked solid. With my funds limited, I went to the Canadian Embassy in Guatamala City, to inquire about what to do in this situation. They gave me a list of hotels to rent from, at my expense, and recommend I register with their travel website to get current updates. As the week progressed, notifying family and friends about my situation, and relentlessly trying to inquire and stay up to date about the status of my flight, on Thursday, March 26, 2020 the government of Guatemala is extending flight restrictions till May 5, 2020. I rushed to inquire about it. I contacted global affairs they said they don’t deal with these situations & directed me back to the Canadian Embassy in Guatemala. I tried to contact both Thursday and Friday, March 26 and 27, 2020. I was put on hold for hours only to be redirected to the travel website where I’m already registered. I constantly check to travel website for current status of Canadians traveling abroad. I heard of a reparation flight in conjunction with WestJet, that will pick up Canadians that are stranded in Guatemala and help take them home. I kept trying to find out about where when and how since Thursday evening, March 26, 2020. I just found out, 30 minutes ago that there was a flight today, March 29, 2020 that picked Canadians and took them home. I just have a few questions, why wasn’t I informed, how do I find out about these reparation flights, how do I inquire about boarding these flights, do I have to be of special status to board these flights, how do I find out information about these flights? I’m at my wits end. I am here in Guatemala, traveling alone, with a language barrier, and with limited funds, trying to get home. CBC is my last hope. Please, I contacted local MLAs in Pictou County, they referred me to Global Affaires and the Canadian Embassy in Guatamala which I have already contacted and registered with the Canadian travelers website. I have also contacted my faculty support members at NSCC to help with my situation and are making inquiries about my situation. I am 100% healthy and take all the necessary precautions recommended not to get sick and I am currently isolated from all social encounters and I am willing to be tested if requested. Please help. I have exhausted all my resources and I am at my wits end.
