The construction of a new state-of-the-art business aircraft fixed-base operator (FBO) facility at Toronto Pearson International Airport will soon provide business and general aviation operators with much quicker access to runways and highways serving Canada’s largest business community.

The new Epic and UV Air FBO, known as The Aerospace Centre, will be constructed on the south side of Pearson Airport, adjacent to east-west runway 24L-06R. It will open in stages beginning in late 2016, with full operation expected in 2017.

The construction of the initial 250,000-square-foot hangar and office facility on Convair Drive will be just west of where Wardair and Skyservice hangars were located until they were demolished about 15 years ago, to accommodate the construction of Runway 24L-06R, Toronto Pearson’s fifth runway.

“The location of the new Epic and UV Air FBO is ideal for quick runway and highway access,” said a spokesman for Aligned Aviation Airport Development Services (Aligned Aviation), the development company that will build The Aerospace Centre with EllisDon.
“The location will be five minutes from 24L-06R using a new taxiway to be built on the south side of the airport, and it will usually be only a 25-minute drive from downtown Toronto by highway,” continued the spokesman.

The first phase of The Aerospace Centre includes the Epic and UV Air FBO, three large hangars as well as meeting rooms, recreation, rest and secure working space.

The hangar facility was specifically designed for the quick movement of aircraft to and from the ramp area and the largest hangar will accommodate aircraft as large as a Boeing Business Jet (BBJ). Phase one will also incorporate an upper level food and beverage space with a deck overlooking the busiest runway in Canada.

Subsequent phases of The Aerospace Centre will include an atrium with related commercial office towers and convention spaces, with further details to be announced.
