Equipped with Wipline 13000 amphibious floats, the 100th Viking Twin Otter will be located in float-manufacturer Wipaire Inc.’s booths Nos. 226 and 228 in the main aircraft display at the EAA Fly-In Convention grounds.

The aircraft represents a significant milestone for the Series 400 Twin Otter production program and bears a striking patriotic Canadian livery for its role as factory demonstrator operated by Viking’s sister company Pacific Sky Aviation Inc.

“2017 marks the first year Viking has participated in the EAA Airventure show, and it’s only fitting that we bring our 100th production aircraft emblazoned with the Canadian maple leaf the same year we celebrate Canada’s 150th anniversary,” said David Curtis, Viking president and CEO.

“I will personally be attending the show, and am looking forward to seeing Viking’s aircraft participating in this amazing aircraft extravaganza!”

Renowned for its unique performance characteristics and ability to reliably operate in extreme environments, the first 100 Series 400 Twin Otters produced by Viking exemplify the type’s versatility, with 38 per cent operating as regional carriers, 31 per cent performing in military or special missions roles, 26 per cent providing industrial support, and five per cent utilized by private charter.

Of the first 100 Viking Twin Otters, 70 aircraft are configured with standard wheel gear, 18 are equipped with straight or amphibious floats, 10 are configured with intermediate flotation gear (IFG), and two are equipped with wheel skis.

Originally launched in March 2007, the Viking Series 400 Twin Otter is now flown in 29 countries and certified by 20 different regulatory bodies worldwide.
