October flight activity sees growth across the board, propelling the industry higher after recording a 4.1 per cent yearly increase in total operations.
Year-over-year flight activity
Reviewing year-over-year flight activity (October 2017 vs. October 2016), TRAQPak data indicates that October 2017 posted an increase of 4.1 per cent. The results by operational category were all positive with Part 135 still holding the top spot, up 7.9 per cent. Fractional activity recorded a rise of 2.2 per cent and Part 91 activity increased 2.0 per cent.
The aircraft categories were all positive as well with large & midsize jets posting the largest gains, up 5.6 per cent and 6.9 per cent respectively. Light jets and turboprops recorded gains of 1.6 per cent and 2.9 per cent in that order.
Month-over-month flight activity
October business aviation flight activity posted an expected month-over-month increase to finish up 2.4 per cent from September 2017. Results by operational category were mixed for the month, with Part 135 posting the only monthly decrease, down 0.3 per cent. Fractional flight activity posted an increase of 3.2 per cent, while Part 91 activity saw the largest monthly gains, up 4.2 per cent.
Aircraft categories were all positive with mid-size jets posting the largest monthly increase, up 5.2 per cent from September. Large jets posted an increase of 5.0 per cent, while turboprops and light jets recorded slight increases, up 0.4 per cent and 0.2 per cent respectively.
