On Oct. 15, 2017, 427 Special Operations Aviation Squadron (SOAS) was honoured with a cenotaph in the Village of Cobden, Ont., in remembrance of its fallen aviators.
Now revelling in its 75th anniversary, 427 Squadron was bestowed the recognition alongside former “Lions” and friends of the unit. “As commanding officer of 427 SOAS during its 75th anniversary, I am honoured to be part of the unveiling of the cenotaph in Cobden. I would like to extend my appreciation to the community for the continued support and long standing relationship between 427 Squadron and the Whitewater Region,” said LCol Clay Rook, Commanding Officer of 427 Special Operations Aviation Squadron.
With a distinguished history of aviation excellence dating back to 1942, 427 SOAS continues to support operations around the globe as an integral component of Canadian Special Operations Forces Command (CANSOFCOM).
