Jazz Aviation Pathways Program’s adds Brampton Flight Centre

Jazz Aviation LP is welcoming Brampton Flight Centre (BFC) of Caledon, Ont., to its Jazz Aviation Pathways Program (Jazz APP), a program developed in 2007 to create a streamlined career path for the pilot profession in Canada.

The addition of BFC brings the number of Jazz APP educational institutions to 13, and the overall number of organizations within the Jazz APP program to 17.

“We’re very pleased to continue growing the Jazz Aviation Pathways Program and adding such high-quality member organizations as Brampton Flight Centre,” said Steve Linthwaite, vice-president, Flight Operations at Jazz. “Our commitment to the future of the pilot profession in Canada includes this important opportunity to support aviation programs with operational experience, and to promote safety and professionalism.”

This agreement is the first of its kind between Jazz and Brampton Flight Centre’s Integrated ATPL program. The industry-leading Jazz APP includes collaboration on training and curriculum to promote safety and professionalism, while providing up-to-date information on industry best practices.

The Jazz APP is aimed at establishing a direct career path for qualifying graduates, including flight simulator evaluations, student scholarships, and the opportunity for top-performing graduates to transition to first officer positions at Jazz.

“The Brampton Flight Centre is extremely proud to have been selected by Jazz to be a part of their Aviation Pathways Program,” said Scott Chayko, chief flight instructor, Brampton Flight Centre. “Being selected speaks to the quality of our pilot training and our commitment to providing a superior flying and learning experience to our students.”

The Jazz APP awards nearly $80,000 each year to top students in recognition of safety and professionalism.

  1. How does the Canadian Aviation industry expect to attract new pilots when it has become so cost prohibitive and no way get the required hours and final required training? My son has been flying for last 5 years and has all the ratings(flown internationally and mountain/river/ float and skis) and almost 800 hours but cannot get ATPL rating because he has CPL !! This came from the Brampton Flight school registrar ! He has already graduated from Ottawa Algonquin College and Ottawa Flying School and flies regularly whenever he can at his own expense but he is unable to find a Flight School that will allow him to take the ATPL course and exam in Ontario or Canada. He even works at Peterborough ON airport beside the SENECA COLLEGE school. He is the one that pulls off the student’s planes when they pop tires or run off the runway or forget to take off the brakes when landing! He has more experience than many of the people at Seneca but cannot take the ATPL course… Why ? How is this reasonable or attractive to the industry? IF he pursued the American Security check and cost – he could get this FAA rating in the USA! in a week with Simulator hours as well
    We are missing the boat for alot of people wanting to enter the industry! We must not be THAT desperate for Canadian pilots or are we shipping them in from elsewhere??
