Loomex Group joins with International Association of Airport Executives Canada

Trent Gervais, CEO of The Loomex Group has announced IAAE Canada has joined forces with The Loomex Group to offer emergency management classroom training in Winnipeg in June.

As well, Loomex and IAAE Canada are offering table-top emergency training onsite at individual airport locations across Western Canada.

In addition, the Loomex Mobile Jet Simulator is available for individual airports to rent for their emergency management exercises.

The Loomex Group is also available to conduct emergency management exercises at individual airports across Western Canada.

Emergency Management Classroom Training Date: June 18, 19 and 20, 2018

Location: Winnipeg Airport

This three-day emergency management training will focus on 14 main areas. The areas include: Simulator Exercise–situational awareness, Regulatory Requirements, Airside Management, Emergency Management 101, Incident Management Systems/Incident Command, Scene Management, Strategies and Tactics, Accident Investigation, Emergency Operations Centre Purpose and Layout, Emergency Response Plan Case Studies, Crisis Communications, Scribe/Documentation, Paper Exercise, Live Exercises with the jet simulator.

Outcomes: Participants will understand how to respond to an airside emergency, site safety, incident command system, incident management system, unified command system, role of the on-scene controller, hazard isolation, role of the airline versus the airport, human factors, public information and communication, fuel spills, fire management, fuel fires vs. structural fires, crash charts, witness statements, documentation management, setting up an emergency operations centre / role and responsibilities, ensuring emergency response plans meet Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs), preparing for an interview, key messaging, social media, effective note taking during a crisis, recreating the chain of events, three live exercises with the jet simulator, and hot wash debrief after each exercise.

Table-top emergency management training

This one-day table-top training is conducted onsite at individual airports. It is available to airports in Manitoba and Saskatchewan starting June 4 until June 9 and is available to airports in Alberta starting on June 13 until June 16.

The custom-tailored emergency management training is designed for individual airports to meet Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs) crash on-site or security exercise.

The Loomex team has extensive experience in the emergency management and communications fields with specific expertise in aviation, emergency and municipal response.

This exercise will help airport personnel to understand what their role is in the case of an emergency.

Loomex works with airport management ahead of time to prepare an exercise that airport staff can relate to, that is realistic and all-inclusive.

Loomex staff run exercises at an appropriate pace and stop for “learning breaks” when needed. Safety is the top priority and Loomex ensures that the participants are safe first and foremost.

Outcomes

Following participation in the training, participants and their team will:

  • Be compliant with CARs regulations;
  • Feel more confident in their ability to deal with an emergency;
  • Understand their individual roles;
  • Understand where improvements need to be made and if additional training is needed;
  • Be compliant with Transport Canada recommendations; and
  • Be able to operate an airport with greater confidence.t

The registration cut-off for the one-day onsite table-top training is four weeks or one month in advance of the individual airport’s training date.

Rent the Loomex Mobile Jet Simulator

The Mobile Jet Simulator is available for airports in Manitoba and Saskatchewan to rent starting on June 4 until June 9.

It is also available to airports in Alberta starting on June 13 until June 16. The 44-foot Jetstar fuselage’s interior is finished as a private-jet.

The 13-passenger fuselage is available to be used during emergency exercises, adding a level of realism for those participating

Cost for small Airports $4,000 plus HST.

A small airport is with 20,000 annual aircraft movements or less.

Note: Loomex will also be conducting a two-day on-scene controller training course at the Alberta Airports Management Association (AAMA) 2018 Airfield Maintenance Seminar in Edmonton on June 11 and June 12.

Cost for Medium Size Airports $5,500 plus HST. A medium size airport is with more than 20,000 annual aircraft movements and less than 100,000 movements.

  • Crash near a hospital;
  • Crash on the airport;
  • Crash off the airport;
  • On runway;
  • Off runway;
  • Hostage taking;
  • Active shooter;
  • Hijacking;
  • On-scene controller training;
  • Responder training for emergency incident.

Features of the Loomex Mobile Jet Simulator include:

  • Jet mounted on beams allowing it to be placed in any configuration as long as a loader or small crane can access the site;
  • Smoke machine that allows theatre smoke both inside and outside of the fuselage for training purposes;
  • Sound system that allows for communications and simulations such as white noise (e.g. jet in the air);
  • Strobes and horns for effect to challenge responders;
  • Camera system inside and outside of fuselage–footage available for post exercise training.

One-day rental fee $1,800 plus HST. Includes a Loomex operator and jet simulator props as listed above. If required, The Loomex Group is available to conduct emergency training exercises.
