Skiesmag.com, the companion website to Skies magazine, has been completely overhauled and relaunched, vastly improving what was already the industry’s go-to source for breaking news and in-depth feature stories.

“We discovered through research that as many as 50 per cent of our online readers were accessing our website on mobile devices at any given time,” said Mike Reyno, who together with his wife Linda owns and publishes Skies.

“With that in mind, we knew we needed to rethink our delivery model to provide those readers with our informative, industry-leading content in the most efficient way possible.”

Skiesmag.com now loads twice as fast as it did previously, offering completely secure browsing and enhanced search capability.

The website’s clean, engaging design provides a better reading experience and is easy to scan, helping readers access and consume the latest industry news quickly and efficiently.

“At Skies, we are constantly evolving to meet our readers’ needs,” said Reyno. “Our new website is the latest example of that, but we have much more in store.”

Skies also recently began offering content via Facebook Instant Articles, an exciting new publishing tool optimized for mobile devices.

To view a Facebook Instant Article, visit the Skies Facebook page using a mobile device and click on the lightning bolt icon next to certain posts. Stories load immediately in an eye-catching format that evokes the look and feel of a print magazine.

Skies also plans to offer content via Google Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP), another ultra-fast mobile publishing platform, in the first half of 2017.

Skiesmag.com has a massive database of roughly 9,000 articles and is constantly updated with industry news as it breaks, complementing the informative, in-depth feature writing readers of the print magazine have come to know and respect.

Another exciting new development is the redesign and relaunch of Skies Daily News, the Canadian aviation and aerospace industries’ leading email newsletter.

The newsletter is sent out to thousands of executives, pilots and aviation enthusiasts every day, ensuring they stay on top of the latest and most important industry developments. To get your free subscription, sign up here.

“These new publishing platforms were developed with readers in mind,” said Reyno. “We want to ensure we’re meeting them where they are, providing content in the way they want to receive it.

“This is just the latest stage in our evolution, and it’s a natural product of our commitment to set the standard for aviation and aerospace coverage in Canada. That’s what we’re known for, and it’s what we will continue to deliver.”
