Supply chain innovation is a key challenge facing the aerospace industry today. This year, the fifth Global Supply Chain Summit organized by Aéro Montréal as part of International Aerospace Week – Montréal 2019, is devoted to the subject, entitling it “Artificial Intelligence: Reinventing the Supply Chain.” This event aims to demystify the concept of artificial intelligence (AI) and explore its concrete applications in the factories of the future.

At the forefront of aerospace innovation, Montreal-based Warp Solutions has designed a technology in response to this growing issue, which will be showcased during the summit. The team, led by its founders, Patrick St-Louis and Philippe Labrecque, developed a digital platform that will address the eight fundamentals of quality assurance in aerospace.

With its user-in-mind, clean-sheet design and certified wireless devices, this modern, engineered software offers integration capabilities to MES, ERP, PLM and most wireless devices, along with AI-ready architecture. Like never before, users are empowered to capture, structure and act on quality data, while complying with industry regulations.

Tailor-made QA software to overcome industry challenges

“Quality Assurance is a key component of any aerospace organization. It is the foundation of the industry, yet it is almost systematically overlooked when it comes to continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity,” said St-Louis, vice-president of Market Strategies and co-founder. “When we embarked on this journey, we were aware of the industry’s pain points (high costs, disorganized data, LMS issues, etc.) and we made it our mission to transform how QA is performed and perceived worldwide.”

Roll-out will take place in three phases, led by non-conformity management that will go to market in Q4 2019. In collaboration with the CNRC, the CTA and the CIMEQ, Warp has completed the technological validations needed to perfect this first module, on time and with outstanding results. “The software is destined to reduce the cycle time by 40 per cent and the effort associated with all steps of non-conformity management by 30 per cent,” said St-Louis.

Joint efforts with key players

Collaborators have played an essential role in pre-launch efforts. “Developing any software without consulting future users and management is a recipe for failure. Despite our extensive knowledge of the industry, we firmly believe in the importance of involving collaborators with different profiles (OEMs, Tier 1, FMP shops, Engineering Services) to design the user interfaces as well as to establish some baseline parameters for a seamless architectural integration,” explained Labrecque, vice-president of Product Strategy and co-founder.

More than 35 contributors are now committed to Warp’s growing success. Recently, the company signed a collaboration agreement with two OEMs head-quartered in Europe and the U.S., along with a highly reputable MRO.
