The airline is expanding its offerings at Toronto Pearson International Airport, as well as Vancouver International, Calgary International and Edmonton International airports.

WestJet is adding 28 more weekly flights out of Pearson to key business and tourism destinations in Canada, the United States, Mexico and the Caribbean.

The destinations include Ottawa, Ont.; Montreal, Que.; Saskatoon, Sask.; Victoria, B.C.; Cancun, Mexico; Montego Bay, Jamaica; Nassau, Bahamas; Puerto Plata and Punta Cana, Dominican Republic; and Fort Myers, Fla.

“WestJet is again providing additional service to benefit both the business traveller as well as the leisure guest,” said Brian Znotins, WestJet vice-president, Network Planning, Alliances and Corporate Development.

“This additional service means business travellers will be able to take advantage of increased frequencies and more convenient schedules, while vacationers will also have more flights to choose from for their getaways with friends and family this summer. And as one of the only a handful of airlines globally that doesn’t overbook, when you pay for a seat, you get a seat.”

The expanded service from Vancouver will include 60 more flights weekly, including an increase of 24 weekly flights between Vancouver and Calgary. Other destinations include Kelowna, B.C.; Regina, Sask.; Fort St. John, B.C.; Cabo San Lucas, Mexico; and Edmonton, Victoria, Cancun and Ottawa.

WestJet will also launch three-time weekly service between Vancouver and Mexico City with the route moving to daily service on April 29.

“We are thrilled that WestJet is enhancing its schedule and connectivity out of YVR this summer. The addition of more than 60 weekly flights provides passengers with even more flexibility when travelling to key destinations in Canada and Mexico,” said Craig Richmond, president and CEO, Vancouver Airport Authority.

“WestJet has been a long-time partner and this announcement further strengthens YVR’s position as a hub, providing more non-stop travel options and convenient connections.”

Expanded service out of WestJet’s Calgary hub includes the addition of 72 more weekly flights. WestJet said it already offers more flights to more destinations from Calgary than any other airline, and these flight additions once again make Calgary its largest hub.

“WestJet will increase service from Calgary, our largest hub, by six dozen weekly flights this summer,” said Znotins. “This additional service means business travellers will be able to take advantage of increased frequencies and more convenient schedules from Calgary to key business destinations like Vancouver, Edmonton, Montreal and Halifax while better day-of-week schedules allow for increased connectivity for guests connecting to the greater WestJet network.”

Other destinations include Nanaimo, Kelowna, Penticton, Abbotsford and Victoria, B.C.; Fort McMurray and Grande Prairie, Alta.; Windsor, Ont.; Dallas/Ft. Worth, Texas; Las Vegas, Nev.; and Palm Springs, Calif.

WestJet will begin serving Denver International Airport daily from Calgary International Airport starting March 8 and will launch four-time weekly service between Calgary and Mexico City on March 14. Service becomes daily starting April 29.

This summer, WestJet will operate an average of 137 daily flights from Calgary International Airport or five departures an hour on average. In the past 10 years, WestJet has increased capacity out of YYC by 48 per cent and accounts for 53 per cent of the seat capacity out of the city.

Expanded service from Edmonton includes 23 additional weekly flights to Calgary, Vancouver, Kelowna, Fort McMurray, Saskatoon, Las Vegas and Los Angeles.

“WestJet continues to invest in Edmonton and Northern Alberta with increased service, connectivity and frequencies,” said Znotins. “As the largest airline flying out of EIA, we are providing schedules to key business destinations like Calgary and Fort McMurray while giving local leisure travellers the opportunity to visit destinations like Las Vegas on a schedule that fits their own.”

This summer, WestJet will operate an average of 62 daily flights from Edmonton International Airport. In the past 10 years, WestJet has increased capacity out of EIA by 52 per cent and now accounts for 73 per cent of the capacity out of the city, measured in available seat miles.

“The increase in number of non-stop flights per week between Edmonton and these select markets is great news for EIA and our passengers,” said Tom Ruth, president and CEO, Edmonton International Airport. “WestJet continues to show leadership in air service offerings in Edmonton, and we are proud to grow as partners together.”

The service is part of the airline’s seasonal schedule for the summer of 2018. This summer, WestJet will operate an average of 765 daily flights to 92 destinations including 43 in Canada, 22 in the United States, 23 in Mexico, the Caribbean and Central America, and four in Europe.
