The Whirly-Girls Scholarship Fund, Inc. has announced that 15 scholarships will be awarded to deserving female aviators in 2017, setting the bar for the entire helicopter industry.

Last year, the Whirly-Girls awarded a record-breaking number of 28 scholarships at its Annual Awards Banquet during HAI’s 2016 Heli-Expo in Louisville, Ky., with the generous support from aviation companies.

This year, scholarship sponsors include Airbus, Antipodean Aviation, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, FlightSafety International Inc., Garmin, Guidance Aviation, Night Flight Concepts, Oregon Aero, Robinson Helicopter Company, Survival Systems USA, Inc., Western Helicopters Inc., as well as private individuals.

“The Whirly-Girls cannot overemphasize how much we value these loyal sponsors and valued partnerships,” said scholarship director on the Whirly-Girls’ board of directors, Sarah Dufton. “The Whirly-Girls are excited to not only honor the winners of these amazing scholarships, but all of the supporters who stand by our organization every step of the way.”

The scholarships will be awarded at the Magnolia Hotel’s Pegasus Ballroom in Dallas, Texas, on March 5 at 6:30 p.m. during the Annual Awards Banquet. Immediately following the banquet, the Whirly-Girls will host its first ever casino night. The proceeds from casino night go to support the Whirly-Girls Scholarship Fund.
