L3 MAS announced today that it has received a contract from Pratt & Whitney to modify a pylon that will be used to test a variant of the PW800 engine family. L3 MAS’ work includes the design and manufacture of the engine pylon modifications and systems to integrate the test pylon with Pratt & Whitney’s Boeing 747SP flying test bed.
“We are honoured to be selected again by Pratt & Whitney to support the flight test for this engine program,” said Ugo Paniconi, acting vice-president and general manager of L3 MAS. “We believe that this new contract reflects Pratt & Whitney’s continued confidence in L3 MAS’ capabilities, program execution and proven continuous improvement culture.”
L3 MAS has a well-established relationship with Pratt & Whitney, having provided engine test pylons and equipment for the past 10 years on a number of different projects. The delivery of this pylon is scheduled for the fall of 2019.
