Ian Rae joins the Transat board of directors

Jean-Marc Eustache, chair of the board of directors and president and CEO of Transat A.T. Inc., has announced that Ian Rae has joined the company’s board as an independent director.

“Mr. Rae brings to the table considerable expertise in the field of technology and new digital-driven business models,” Eustache said. “His entrepreneurial vision and scientific mind will enrich our thinking in areas like information systems, e-commerce and innovation, all of which are key to our organization’s development.”

Rae founded CloudOps in 2005 and is its president and CEO. This consulting firm provides cloud computing services, solutions and products to infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) and e-commerce companies, large corporations and telecommunications providers. He also founded cloud.ca, a Canadian cloud computing platform for hosting data that must remain resident in Canada for compliance, performance, cost or confidentiality reasons. Prior to founding his company, he was vice-president responsible for product engineering at Coradiant, a leader in web application performance management, and earlier served as chief information officer at real estate developer Canderel.

Rae holds a BSc (Honours) in biology with a major in evolutionary genetics from McGill University. He has been a member of the board of directors of Genome Canada since 2017. He is a member of the Council of Canadian Innovators, the Entrepreneurs’ Organization and the Government of Canada’s Economic Strategy Table on Digital Industries. He is also an advisor and angel investor in the enterprise startup community.
