Estimated reading time 1 minute, 29 seconds.

MPDAR has announced the approval of a new supplemental type certificate (STC) Q-LSA19-049/D for the Cessna 172. The STC adds a third seating position to the aft bench seat. A private owner and pilot needed the flexibility to be able to carry his entire family in his airplane. With this modification, all three of his children can now safely ride in the back. Two new seatbelt anchors with appropriate reinforcement have been added to the aircraft floor.

“I was delighted to be selected for this project. Regardless of how big or small the project may be, it’s always fun to make an aircraft more useable for the operator,” said Michael Petsche, MPDAR founder and Transport Canada delegate.

“Michael produced a simple but effective design that was easy to install. It’s exactly what I needed,” said the aircraft owner.

MPDAR, based in Montreal, Que., provides design and DAR services for operators of rotorcraft and airplanes of all types.

    1. Hi, I am only seeing this now. I can be reached at 514-833-1657. Thanks! – Mike

  1. If you are going to use this STC or some other option for additional seating in your aircraft make sure you have insurance to cover the additional passengers. W&B aside when s hits the fan the insurance company will notice you’ve got 5 passengers in your 4 place aircraft.
